Oak Street Tank & Steel is the site that chronicles Stracker Solar’s beginnings and history. Owner Jim Morris, whose family business has been manufacturing superb metal products and steel tanks for over 100 years in Ashland, has recognized the unique potential in the elevated dual-axis solar tracker concept that Founder Jeff Sharpe proposed to him back in 2016. Jim offered to share his local fabrication shop space with the Stracker team and assist in the development of the first prototype. After 4 months of design, welding and load testing, the first Stracker unit was fabricated and installed in the steel fabrication facility yard in May of 2017, and it is still going strong.

The other three Stracker models at this site were installed in 2021 to offset more power for the shop, which has become Stracker Solar’s primary manufacturing facility. Jim agreed to install one each of the other models with a variety PV panels for testing and to serve as a bit of a showcase project for the various models of elevated dual-axis solar trackers.
