Ashland, Oregon, April 14, 2022 - Stracker Solar and Southern Oregon Citizens' Climate Lobby are co-leading a tour of the Stracker Solar manufacturing facility in Ashland, Oregon. Stracker Solar has recently received new investment funding to help propel the company’s growth and market expansion with their innovative elevated sun-tracking technology, which maximizes energy production while maintaining the use of ground space below. Strackers have already helped more than a dozen residential and commercial customers successfully meet their energy goals.

The tour will demonstrate the unique Stracker technology, designed and manufactured here in Southern Oregon. Jeff Sharpe, founder and CEO, will discuss the benefits of dual-axis solar tracking compared to conventional solar energy solutions and will explain how these PV trackers are fabricated, demonstrating their new projects for Franz Bakery and a local bank.

Stracker Solar entered the renewable energy field with an innovative solar solution, standing out from traditional PV systems such as rooftop or fixed ground-mount solar. Strackers move with the sun, following its exact path on the sky every day of the year, thus achieving optimal energy collection at all times. These single-pole elevated solar trackers occupy minimal land space, allowing the grounds to be freely used as parking lots, schoolyards, commercial operations, or crop fields.

Stracker Solar, founded in 2017, initiated its Series A investment round this January to accelerate growth through staffing and marketing program increases, and capital purchases. Initial reactions from investors have been exceptionally positive, resulting in commitments for more than one third of the total in the first month, with outreach to venture funds and professional investor groups planned for the second quarter and closing of the round expected to occur by mid-year.

As a result of the funding already received, Stracker Solar has begun to expand their team to nine full-time employees by filling positions in their engineering, sales, marketing, and admin departments, with the target of doubling their staff by the end of the year. To accommodate the larger team, they have just moved into a new office in downtown Ashland. Their opening event for their new location will be held later this spring.

The vast majority of Stracker Solar’s customers have chosen the more and more popular net zero path – where the generated solar power provides all the electricity a business or home uses. While this sounds easy to do, other solar solutions often fall short for both power production and cost-efficiency when net zero is the goal. Lack of large enough roof space and/or available land that the owner is open to dedicate exclusively to solar generation are just two of the reasons why this may be so. Neither are a concern with Strackers, however. This efficient solar energy solution that facilitates multi land use will play an important role in accelerating Oregon’s transition to renewable energy.
