Net Zero Electric – Franz Bakery’s White City Outlet and Depot
A state-of-the-art solar installation started to produce clean energy for Franz Bakery’s new Outlet Store and Depot in White City, Oregon, at the end of July, 2022. The six elevated dual-axis solar trackers move gracefully with the sun all through the day in the parking lot of the newly built facility. They generate all the power the location will need after it opens its doors later this summer.
The six-Stracker installation was designed to achieve net-zero electric status for the new location while also accommodating possible future electric vehicle charging stations and other operations-related energy demand increases.
The construction of the 21,000 sq. ft new steel building and its premises was managed by prime contractor JB Steel. Project Manager Alex Batzer saw the opportunity to include solar power generation into the project and involved Stracker Solar to provide a proposal.
“Bringing our clients best-in-class solutions is an essential part of how we do business, and solar is no exception. We chose to partner with Stracker Solar because of their unique product that is not only perfectly compatible with parking lots but also the most efficient PV system available”, said Alex Batzer.
JB Steel was also collaborating with Stracker Solar on the solar part of the project. Their construction team took care of all the site work that preceded the installation of the solar trackers: trenching, laying conduit, drilling for, and pouring foundations.
